Creating a layered look is as fashionable as it is functional, but sometimes it can be hard to tell what works and what doesn't. We’re always experimenting with layers! You can invent whole new wardrobes out of pieces you already own, and dressing in layers is ideal when the weather is fickle. In our hometown of Bellingham, the Pacific Northwest climate keeps us on our toes, so we add and subtract layers depending on the temperature, wind and rain.
Tights, socks, leggings and leg warmers lend themselves well to any layered look. So if you’re looking for some fun and versatile looks, try on some of these tested, Sock-Monkey-approved layering tips.
– Transition into spring by pulling out a summer dress that can be paired with an open-front sweater and tights for a cozy, classy outfit. Add boot socks or leg warmers that you can ditch once the weather warms up.
– Some say two tights are better than one: Try wearing a textured see-through tight over an opaque, solid-color tight. You can wear each on its own later, and the lace and fishnet styles will carry you right through summer.
– Footless tights and leggings are a versatile way to transition between the seasons. You can wear them with sandals in the warmer months ahead, but for now layer them with socks. When you're ready to kick your boots to the back of the closet, try eye-catching flats or heels with scrunched knee highs. And if you dare, rock your socks with sandals.
